Intern Update
Jul 02, 2024
We welcomed our interns on May 20th in DeWitt with intern orientation. Since then, they've been busy not only at their locations, learning everything that goes into their specific roles, but also taking advantage of other great opportunities as a group!
At the end of May, our interns had a community service day helping at the Wilber Lake and Arboretum. They helped plant posts for labeling trees and mulched walking paths around the lake.
Our interns attended the Nebraska Cooperative Council Intern Retreat in Kearney. Here, they learned more about the importance of cooperatives, talked with CEO's, including our own, Allan Zumpfe, and heard from a panel of board members from local cooperatives.
Jim Welch joined our interns for a Professional Development Day taking them through a Clifton Strengths analysis to help them understand how they can capitalize on their strengths. Taylor Cerveny explained the benefits offered to full-time employees at Farmers Cooperative, and Taylor Collins helped our interns better understand their Predictive Index results.
The group visited Beatrice Energy, the Beatrice Feed Mill, and the Frankfort Shuttle. Led by employees across our grain, energy, and feed divisions, our interns learned how we serve our customers as a full-service cooperative.
Finally, the team at WinField United hosted our agronomy interns for an intensive training where they received the agronomic information and resources needed to succeed in their roles throughout the summer.
Last week marked the halfway point of their summer internships. Thank you, Jacy Hafer and Bennett Perlinger, for organizing these amazing learning opportunities to make this internship program a well-rounded experience for each of our interns!
